All paws ready for UPAWS 10th Strut Your Mutt

MARQUETTE — This Saturday will mark the 10th year for the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter’s largest fundraiser of the year.

At Strut Your Mutt, the grassy fields at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette will be filled with dogs and dog enthusiasts raising money for animals at the shelter. Funds are raised by participants through pledges. With nine successful years in the books, UPAWS is looking to make this year bigger and better than ever before.

“This year we’ve added for our 10th anniversary, a 5k fun–run sponsored by Frei Chevrolet, so that’s another twist to our event,” said Strut Your Mutt Chair Ann Brownell, ” and there’s more vendors than ever, more raffles than ever, and more fun than ever.”

Registration for the fun–run begins at 8:30. Registration for the walk begins at 9:00.

The more money that is raised, the more animals can be helped at the no–kill shelter. UPAWS has a 98% save rate and community support helps them continue to provide the best care they can for their animals.
