Suspects in heroin, cocaine, and prescription drug bust arraigned
ESCANABA — Four suspects arrested by Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team detectives this week have been arraigned in Delta County District Court.
26-year-old Darryl Gilliam-French of Escanaba is charged with two counts of delivery or manufacture of a controlled substance less than 50 grams and one count of maintaining a drug house. Gilliam-French was arrested Tuesday at a residence in Escanaba after a search warrant revealed heroin, drug packing material, and over $13,000 in cash. He is in jail on a 10 percent of $1,000,000 bond.
27-year-old Lewis Harris of Gladstone is charged with two counts of delivery or manufacture of a schedule one, two, or three controlled substance (buprenorphine and hydrocodone). 25-year-old Courtney Kang of Escanaba is charged with one count of delivery or manufacture of less than 50 grams of heroin and one count of delivery or manufacture of a schedule one, two, or three controlled substance (alprazolam). Finally, 21-year-old Marvin Mercier of Escanaba is charged with one count of delivery or manufacture of less than 50 grams of cocaine.
Harris, Kang, and Mercier were arrested Wednesday as UPSET detectives continued their investigation. They are in jail on $50,000 cash or surety bonds.
All four suspects are scheduled to appear for preliminary exams in Delta County District Court on October 1st.
