UPPER PENINSULA — The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team – or UPSET – have made several arrests pertaining to substance delivery the past couple days, according to D/Lt. Tim Scholander of Michigan State Police UPSET.

In Ishpeming on Monday UPSET arrested Maurice Shauntez Gray of Southbend, Indiana, and Jennifer Savanguongsavanh Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They were both found with possession of heroin and morphine and arrested at a motel in Ishpeming. They were both subjects of an investigation for several months. Detectives found heroin, morphine and packaging materials for distribution and more than $4,200 in cash in their possession. Gray was lodged  in Marquette County Jail on three counts of delivery of heroin. Savanguongsavanh was also lodged in Marquette County Jail for possession with intent to distribute heroin and morphine.

In Escanaba on Monday detectives from UPSET say they arrested an Escanaba man on the delivery of heroin. The suspect, currently pending for arraignment, has been transferred to Marquette where he is now facing charges in federal court for conspiracy to deliver heroin. Two other Escanaba men were arrested at the same time and charged in state court with loitering and maintaining a drug house. UPSET says that more than $4,800 in cash was seized in this arrest along with drug packaging material.

Yesterday in Escanaba UPSET detectives say they arrested another Escanaba man on two counts for delivery of heroin. Under a search warrant the detectives located and seized heroin, drug packaging material and more that $13,700 in cash. The suspect is currently pending arraignment and the investigation remains ongoing.

Today detectives say they continued this investigation and arrested three other Escanaba residents involved with heroin, cocaine and prescription pills.Suspect one was arrested on a felony warrant for delivery of heroin. Suspect two was arrested on a two count felony warrant for delivery of prescription pills. Suspect three was arrested on a  felony warrant for delivery of cocaine.

Today UPSET detectives say they seized more than 50 marijuana plants growing in an open area near Fordney Road and M-123 in McMillian Township in Luce County. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
