Three pets found deceased after house fire

ONTONAGON — Three pets were found deceased inside of a house fire in Ontonagon.

Deputies from the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department responded to the house fire at 414 Chippewa Street Thursday night just after 8 p.m.

Smoke was visible throughout both floors of the home when deputies arrived on the scene. The Ontonagon Village Fire Department responded to the fire and were able to put it out. The house sustained interior damage and 3 pets were found deceased inside. No other injuries have been reported at this time. The owners were not at their home at the time of the fire. According to the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
