Staffing changes are ahead for local school district
ISHPEMING — Big changes are coming to the Ishpeming School District.
When John Summerhill resigned as Superintendent, he left a vacancy that needed to be filled. Anthony Bertucci was named as the interim replacement at Thursday night’s Special School Board Meeting. Bertucci usually serves as Business Manager, and says the change is temporary.
“I am happy to help out the district in any way that I can and help fill this role, but I really enjoy my job as business manager, and expect to do that for some time,” said Bertucci
The School District is on the hunt for a more permanent replacement.
“Applications are due September 25th so we still don’t have a complete set of candidates,” added Bertucci, “We’re looking for someone who is truly invested in our district, who wants to be in Ishpeming, who, if they have children, wants to send their children here, and really just be a part of our community.”
There will be some other staffing changes in Ishpeming as well. The Board will hire a new business teacher, a new secretary and recall a special education teacher.
