New hospital secures land to build on
MARQUETTE — The city of Marquette is one step closer to having a brand new hospital.
The Marquette City Commission has approved the sale of the Roundhouse property to Duke Lifepoint Healthcare. Duke Lifepoint will pay the city $4 million for the 37 acres containing the Roundhouse site and the property on which the Municipal Service Center stands.
City staff and the Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority worked with Duke to acquire Brownfield Economic Development incentives for construction of infrastructure that will be used to relocate the Municipal Service center and improve road access.
The project will include demolition of existing structures on the site and construction of the new hospital facility.
