Paddle boarder rescued after becoming stranded
MARQUETTE — A paddle boarder is safe and sound after being rescued by the US Coast Guard this evening.
At around 6:00, The Marquette City Fire Department, US Coast Guard, Marquette Police and UP Health Systems EMS responded to Picnic Rocks for a paddle boarder in distress. Two Marquette lifeguards were deployed on jet skis to the paddle boarder and stayed with them until Coast Guard personnel arrived. The boarder was then brought ashore.
The Marquette City Fire department would like to remind kayakers and paddle boarders that they need to know their skill levels and limitations before heading out on Lake Superior.
