ONTONAGON TOWNSHIP — A Greenland teen was sent to the hospital after a rollover accident in Ontonagon Township early Sunday afternoon.

Deputies from the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office say the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on M-38 near Calumet Road. A 16-year-old female from Greenland was driving on M-38 when her passenger-side tires left the pavement. The driver tried to return to the roadway, but she over-corrected and lost control. Her vehicle skidded across the oncoming lane and onto the opposite shoulder, where it overturned.

The vehicle’s passenger, a 17-year-old male, was transported by Sonco Ambulance to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital for treatment of injuries. Police say the driver was not injured. The vehicle was extensively damaged and had to be towed away by M-64 Towing of Ontonagon.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Ontonagon Fire Department.
