No injuries in early morning semi accident
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A semi-tractor trailer driver was cited after leaving the road near a car dealership lot in Marquette Township early Tuesday morning.
Troopers from the Negaunee Post of the Michigan State Police say the incident happened at around 4:45 a.m. Kassie Metcalf, 18, of Newberry, was traveling eastbound in a 2005 Western Star log hauler on US-41 near Brickyard Road when she fell asleep at the wheel. Troopers say Metcalf’s truck left the roadway and went through the ditch before coming to rest near several vehicles on display at the Fox Motors Marquette inventory lot.
The truck was not loaded at the time of the accident. The crash resulted in damage to the undercarriage of the truck, and police say several nearby vehicles on display may have been damaged by flying debris. Metcalf was not injured, but she was cited for careless driving.
