UPDATE: Houghton County Jail Inmate Dies

UPDATE — 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, the Houghton County Correctional Staff found a 38-year-old male inmate experiencing unknown medical issues. The staff administered life saving measures and had him transported to UP Health System – Portage. The inmate later died at UP Health System – Marquette.

The Houghton County Correctional Staff found the inmate during routine cell checks. His name is not being release at this time until his next of kin has been notified.

HOUGHTON — An inmate at the Houghton County Jail has died.

On Saturday, March 14, an inmate was taken by ambulance to UP Health System – Portage, due to an unknown medical emergency. The inmate was then taken to UP Health System – Marquette, where he later died.
