Pit bull shot after trying to attack pregnant woman
ESCANABA — Escanaba Public Safety officers say they’re thankful that no one was hurt by a pit bull that tried to attack a pregnant woman.
The incident happened shortly before 12:30 this afternoon on the 300 block of South 15th Street.
Police say that when an officer responded, the pit bull cornered him and attacked him. The officer shot the dog twice.
The pit bull fled the area and ran away for about ten minutes before it was found. After being secured, the dog died from the gunshot wounds.
The pit bull’s owner was present, and police say the owner is aware of what happened. There’s no word about whether or not any charges will be filed.
