UPDATE: Names released in Negaunee two-vehicle accident

UPDATE: September 22 6:17 p.m.

Names have been released in a two-vehicle accident that happened in Negaunee Monday afternoon.

Shane Hiltunen, 20, is identified as the driver of the Chevy Ventura van that collided with a Dodge Stratus driven by Mandi Grasso.  Police say Hiltunen failed to yield while turning left from County Road onto Michigan Street.

Three of the five passengers in Hiltunen’s van were transported to Bell Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Antilla’s Towing.

Hiltunen was cited for failure to yield.

NEGAUNEE — Two people were taken to the hospital after a car accident in Negaunee Monday afternoon.

A van collided with a car on the corner of Michigan and County Road in Negaunee.  Police say a Chevy Ventura was driving eastbound on County Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a westbound Dodge Stratus.  Airbags deployed in both vehicles, but it’s unknown if any of the people involved were wearing seatbelts.

The two people injured were transported to Bell Hospital for the treatment of unknown injuries.
