Tech runners earn weekly nod from GLIAC
BAY CITY, Mich. – Michigan Tech’s Deedra Irwin and Sean Pengelly have been named this week’s GLIAC Cross Country Athletes of the Week awards after high finishes at Saturday’s (Sept. 20) St. Olaf Invitational.
Irwin, a native of Pulaski, Wis., finished third overall in 22:20.5. The senior also led the Huskies in the first meet of the season at the Spartan Invitational with a 23rd place finish.
Pengelly is a sophomore from Hartland, Mich. He finished fifth overall with a time of 25:24.5. Pengelly also paced the Black and Gold at the Spartan Invite with a 29th place finish on the opening weekend.
Tech has the weekend off before traveling to Wisconsin on Oct. 3 to participate in the Blugold Invitational at UW-Eau Claire.
