Delta County applies to Gov. Snyder for state of emergency declaration
Delta County officials have applied to Governor Rick Snyder for a state of emergency declaration in the area because of frozen pipes during the winter cold, and new damage is still showing up.
County Emergency Manager Bob Berbohm says twelve water spouts were seen coming out of the Escanaba water treatment plant on Wednesday as well. The city of Escanaba is still trying to assess the damage.
Snyder declared a state of emergency in Marquette County last week because of frozen and burst pipes. The declaration does not guarantee financial assistance from the state, but it does allow a county to apply for disaster aid that it wouldn’t be able to access otherwise.
