Stuck bus shuts down westbound side of US-41 in Marquette Twp.

Anyone trying to drive west from the Marquette area on US-41 this morning had a reminder of the poor road conditions staring them in the face. A bus got stuck in the highway median.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post say it happened in the westbound lanes in Marquette Township shortly before 9:00 a.m. A bus was trying to drive up the hill to park at the Country Inn and Suites and Buffalo Wild Wings but couldn’t make it up the hill because of ice.

The bus backed down the hill into the road, but it backed out too far and its two rear wheels became stuck in the median. There were no passengers on board and the driver wasn’t hurt. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department is assisting at the scene.

Juntti’s Towing is pulling the bus off of the median, but the westbound lanes are closed and traffic is being detoured until the bus can be towed.
