Detroit man sentenced on heroin charge in Chippewa County
A 23-year-old Detroit man will spend time in jail after pleading guilty to a drug charge.
Sam Kendrick, Jr. was sentenced to one year in jail with credit for 105 days served and court fines total about $1,200. In February, he pled guilty to three counts of delivery of heroin in Chippewa County Circuit Court.
His co-defendant, 32-year-old Onalee Chippewa of Brimley, opted to plead not guilty in March to delivery of heroin less, than 50 grams and maintaining a drug house. She has a three-day trial scheduled for June 4-6.
The pair was arrested by the Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement Team in December.
Officers seized heroin, cash, and other drug paraphernalia from their residence.
