Manistique woman arrested for delivery of narcotics on or near school property
MANISTIQUE — On Monday, January 13th, Manistique Public Safety Officers and the Public Safety K-9 Unit continued their investigation into the use and trafficking of methamphetamine with a felony arrest and narcotics seizure in the City of Manistique.
Pursuant to their investigation, at 6:15 p.m. on Monday evening, officers served a search warrant at 600 Cherry Street, Apartment B3, which led to the seizure of methamphetamine, other narcotics, and the arrest of one Manistique resident that was lodged at the Schoolcraft County Jail.
Samantha Jo Troxler, 27, was charged with the following:
- Count 1: controlled substance – delivery on school or library property (narcotics or cocaine) less than 50 grams and being a person 18 years of age or over, possess with the intent to deliver to another person on or within 1,000 feet of school property less than 50 grams of a mixture containing the controlled substance methamphetamine, which is a felony that is punishable by 2 to 40 years and a $75,000 fine.
- Count 2: controlled substance – possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy, knowingly or intentionally possess methamphetamine, a felony punishable by 10 years and/or a $15,000 fine.
- Count 3: controlled substance – maintaining a drug house and knowingly or intentionally keeping or maintaining a dwelling that was used for the keeping or selling of controlled substances in violation of Article 7 of the public health code, a high court misdemeanor which is punishable by 2 years and/or $25,000 fine.
On Wednesday, January 15th, Troxler appeared before the 93rd District Court of Schoolcraft County for arraignment on formal charges issued by County Prosecutor Tim Noble. Bond was set for Troxler at $150,000 cash or surety with her next appearance in Court scheduled for January 29th for a Probable Cause Hearing. The Preliminary Hearing for Troxler was set for February 5th at 10:00 a.m.
Manistique Public Safety Officers were assisted in the investigation by the Michigan Department of Child Protective Services, the 93rd District Court Probation Department, and the Michigan State Police. No further details are being released at this time.
