Michigan Tech set to host 2020 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships

HOUGHTON — One of the top Nordic ski national events is coming to the Copper Country next month. Michigan Tech will host the 2020 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships, hosted by L.L. Bean, Jan. 2 to 7 on the Michigan Tech Trails.

This event, hosted four times previously by Michigan Tech, is a gathering of many of the best cross country skiers in America and even some select international skiers. People from across the country and abroad will descend upon Houghton, allowing them to experience the wonders of this town and provide a boost to the local economy.

“We are excited to be able to host the U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships again in 2020. It is a great opportunity to showcase the cooperation between Michigan Tech and the surrounding communities,” said Co-Competition Committee Chief Jim Tervo.

The event will also give those interested in Nordic skiing a chance to volunteer. There are still volunteer positions available anyone interested in helping make this the best Nordic Skiing event in the Upper Peninsula.
