Dog killed in Ishpeming structure fire
ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 602 Bank Street in the City of Ishpeming on Saturday the 22nd at 12:47 am. A neighbor saw the smoke and flames coming from the home and called 911 to report the fire. The only resident of the home was at work at the time of the fire.
When Firefighter’s arrived on the scene, heavy smoke and fire were coming from the rear of the residence. Firefighters remained on scene for 2 1/2 hours. The home suffered heavy smoke & water damage.
The cause of the fire at this time is still under investigation. No injuries were reported, however, the resident’s dog perished in the fire.
Pigs & Heat along with the American Red Cross were contacted for the fire victim. Marquette County 131 Rescue, Health System Bell EMS, Negaunee City FD & Ishpeming City Police, SEMCO & UPPCO assisted on scene.
