UPDATE: Missing NMU student found deceased
UPDATE: Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt reports that the young man reported missed Friday afternoon form Northern Michigan University, Guiancarlo B. Estupigan was found deceased at 4:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The body was found by volunteers assisting the Marquette County Search and rescue team, 2300 feet south of CR 510 and the Yellow Dog River, approximately 300 feet from roadway.
It is believed that Estupigan got lost and disoriented during a snowstorm that hit on Thursday afternoon.
ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP — According to Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt, 25-year-old Guiancarlo B. Estupigan went missing Thursday afternoon after going for a hike toward by County Road 510 near the Yellow Dog River.
Estupigan is a sophomore at Northern Michigan University, majoring in Fish and Wildlife Management.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Estupigan’s roommate on Friday around 2 p.m. to report him missing.
The roommate said that Estupigan went hiking to take photographs of the falls.When Estupigan did not return, the roommate went searching and found his Subaru Crosstrek in the Yellow Dog parking lot.
