Alcohol believed to be factor in fatal Clark Township crash
ST. IGNACE — Michigan State Police troopers from the St. Ignace Post responded to a one–vehicle traffic crash on Sept. 1st in Clark Township.
A Hyundai Accent with two occupants was traveling south on Three Mile Road when it left the roadway and drove onto the shoulder around 3:30 in the morning. The vehicle then returned to the roadway and overturned several times, ejecting a man from the vehicle. The female passenger was able to escape the wreckage before the vehicle caught on fire.
Both occupants were transported to War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie. The man was later transferred to McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital, where he died on Sept. 3rd as a result of his injuries. The woman was later released from War Memorial Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol is believed to be a factor.
