DNR hosts free off road vehicle pass for weekend
MARQUETTE — The DNR invites residents and out–of–state visitors to ride DNR–designated routes and trails during the weekend of June 9th and 10th.
Off road vehicles (ORV) and riders will have access to nearly 3,700 miles of off–road trails and Michigan’s five scramble areas. All of the ORV rules and laws still apply to all riders. The free ORV weekend is a great way to introduce friends and family to a sport that is very popular in the Upper Peninsula.
But be sure to be aware of all the safety precautions before going out on the trails.
“Any time we are talking about riding off road vehicles, especially in the summer time, and a time when it’s a free weekend where you may have inexperienced riders experimenting with the sport for the first time,” said, Deputy Public Information Officer, John Pepin. “Keep in mind about safety because it is the utmost thing that you can take with you when you are going out on a trail or anywhere to ride an off road vehicle. It is very important that you pay attention to what is happening and don’t underestimate the power of your machine, especially if you are someone who is new to it.”
This event will be happening at the beginning of this weekend.
