Local author highlights Marquette ghost stories
MARQUETTE — October is the time for haunted tales and ghost stories. One local seventh generation Marquette man is releasing a book jam packed with local spooky tales.
Author Tyler Tichelaar will soon be releasing his new book Haunted Marquette: Ghost Stories from the Queen City. The book is filled with 40 ghost stories that took place in Marquette. Marquette became known as Queen City of the North for its thriving industries, beautiful buildings, and being the largest city in Upper Michigan.
On Wednesday October 11th at 6 p.m. there will be a presentation of the book and a book signing at the Marquette Regional History Center. The following day you can find it on the shelves at Snowbound Books, Book World, and Amazon.
“For example I have a chapter on cemeteries, a chapter on downtown businesses, a chapter on haunted houses,” local author Tyler Tichelaar said. “Each chapter is the history of that place plus the experiences people have had there.”
Partial proceeds from the book will go to the Marquette Regional History Center. Tichelaar collected story ideas from ghost tours that used to be held in Marquette 9 years ago. Other tales came from locals who had spooky experiences in various houses and buildings around town.
