UPDATE: One arrested after fatal head-on collision
UPDATE — 8:30 a.m. December 15th, 2015 (EST)
More information has been released about the fatal head-on collision that happened Friday in Soo Township.
Michigan State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post say the driver of the northbound vehicle was 19-year-old Jared Baragwanath of Brimley. He died Sunday morning at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
The driver of the southbound vehicle, 23-year-old Stacy Linklater of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was arrested on scene for operating while intoxicated. Upon review of the incident report, the Chippewa County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a charge of operating while intoxicated causing death. Linklater was arraigned Monday in Chippewa County District Court. She is in jail on a 10% of $50,000 bond, and she is scheduled for a probable cause conference on December 21st.
The crash remains under investigation.
SOO TOWNSHIP — One person is dead after a head-on collision that happened Friday evening in Soo Township.
Michigan State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post say the two-vehicle accident happened around 9:00 p.m. on Mackinac Trail south of Three Mile Road. Two occupants of the northbound vehicle were transported from the scene for medical treatment. Due to the seriousness of the injuries, one was transported to Petoskey and the other to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. The driver of that vehicle died from his injuries.
Police say the lone occupant of the other vehicle was not seriously injured. The crash remains under investigation.
