Boy hiding in pile of leaves struck by car
ESCANABA — A teenager was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car in Escanaba Tuesday evening.
Escanaba Public Safety responded to the 400 block of Second Avenue South around 5:45 p.m. for a report of a personal injury accident. Police say the 16-year-old male driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with two passengers was traveling west when he drove through a large leaf pile on the curb. A 14-year-old boy was hiding in the pile.
The 14-year-old was transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident. He was later airlifted to UP Health System – Marquette.
Police say the incident is still under investigation.
