Calumet supermarket goes out of business
CALUMET — According to their Facebook page, Louie’s Fresh Supermarket in Calumet has closed down. Yesterday was their final day of operation.
The Facebook post, which was signed by the Meneguzzo family, said that they have been working closely with a new supplier that will fully restock the Lake Linden store pending court approval on December 9th.
Back in August, Louie’s Fresh Supermarket, which is owned by Lakes Super Market Incorporated, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The filing included the Quality Hardware store as well as LJNG LLC, the real estate holding company for Lakes Super Market.
According to the files, both companies owe over 170 creditors approximately $12.5 million between them, with their combined assets totaling about $3.5 million.
The Facebook post thanked all that supported them and did mention that operations at the Lake Linden location would continue.
