Moosewood Nature Center is Now Offering Dino-Digs
Moosewood Nature Center is now offering Dino-Digs. This event is directed and founded by Erik Johnson and it’s now open for kindergarten through and older.
Dino-Digs is continuous event were people come to learn about paleontology.
Erik Johnson, Board of Directors Moosewood Nature Center, started the program because growing up, he had access to find fossils.
Erik had kids that were interested in dinosaurs and nothing to show them.
So-he came up with the idea of Dino-Digs.
This event is open to kindergarten or through any age.
I realized I needed a durable Dinosaur so I created this one to withstand abuse and use in wet soil and with small kids. It’s not made of metal nor are there any metal parts in it.
This event is open to kindergarten or through any age.
The setting for the dinosaur excavations is a dry riverbed and the idea is that the dinosaur came down to the water to either eat or drink died and was eventually covered up by mud and sediment.
The idea is to get kids interested in paleontology and since our region is devoid of dinosaur fossils due to glaciers that came down and ground up any bones and remains that could be found, it’s a chance to experience as close as possible an actual Dinosaur!
Erik designed and built the Utah-raptor to withstand abuse and use in wet soil. Also, It’s not made of metal nor are there any metal parts in it.
Erik’s idea is to get kids interested in paleontology stating that since our region is devoid of dinosaur fossils due to glaciers eliminating any bones and remains that could be found,
So–Dino-Dig is a chance to loosely experience excavating the remains of an actual Dinosaur!
