Michigan State Police To Hold Recruitment Fair This Weekend

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich -If you have ever wanted to learn more or become a Michigan State Police Trooper, this weekend you will have the opportunity.

MSP is holding a drive–in style recruiting event at the Sault Saint Marie post on Saturday, July 3rd from 8 am to 5 pm.

Attendees will have the chance to ask questions about becoming a trooper and how to start the application process.

“It’s definitely very important to get the message out there that we are looking for qualified individuals who are motivated and want to give back to their community and are interested in a career with the State Police right here in the Upper Peninsula,” said MSP Sgt. Ben Eckola. “The more Troopers we have at a post, the better we can serve our communities, the more we can do for them and that’s our goal. To get the highest quality of law enforcement and public safety services to everyone in the Upper Peninsula and down state.

Applicants must be at least 21-years-old, have no convictions and a satisfactory driving record, and possess a high school diploma or GED.

Troopers also receive health dental, vision and life insurance along with other benefits.

Starting salary for a trooper is approximately $50.000 not including overtime.

Trooper recruits are paid $3,800 during the recruit school.
