Marquette man arrested for attempted robbery
MARQUETTE — A Marquette man has been arrested after attempting to commit armed robbery of the Freedom Gas Station in Marquette.
At approximately 6:25 a.m., officers from the Marquette City Police Department responded to a robbery complaint at the gas station.
After investigation, it was revealed that the suspect handed a note to an employee at the gas station, stating that he was armed, and to give him money. The employee refused, and the suspect left the store.
The suspect, 59–year–old Milton Cecil Demarest, was arrested at the 400 block of West Washington Street without incident.
Demarest was lodged at the Marquette County Jail for a felony charge of Armed Robbery. An arraignment date for Demarest has not been set.
