Feed the Frontline, Marquette County raising funds to help healthcare workers and local businesses
MARQUETTE COUNTY — A GoFundMe has been set up to support those working on the frontlines during this pandemic, and it will help local businesses as well.
The goal of Feed the Frontline is to order meals from local restaurants struggling during this time, and to give those meals to essential frontline workers.
Organizer Rachel Hutter is an RN herself. She knows the struggle firsthand that healthcare professionals across the country are facing each day.
“It’s morally defeating hearing about all these nurses getting sick while they’re out on the frontline,” said Hutter. “It’s the first time I feel like you’re entering a job and you’re scared. So I wanted to boost their morale; I want them to know that we’re all appreciated. And I wanted to include local businesses, because I know that they are struggling.”
In just a few days, the GoFundMe has already brought in a significant amount of funding for this project. Hutter says she’s thrilled by how eagerly people have come together to support Marquette County’s frontline workers, although it’s a perfect example of the character of this community.
“I know our community is great,” said Hutter. “We seem to rally around each other in the face of adversity. So I’m excited and I’m astonished. It’s exciting.”
As time goes on, Hutter says she’d love to be able to provide meals for all essential employees if possible.
