Ishpeming Public School District adds meal pickup location

ISHPEMING — Ishpeming Public Schools have been providing free breakfast/lunch combo packs for students ages 18 and under. Today the Superintendent’s Office announced that the district will be adding an extra pickup location at the end of the month to better serve students and their families.

Meals have been available at the Ishpeming Middle and High School entrance on Pearl Street from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Beginning March 30, meals will also be offered at Christ the King Lutheran Church on Stoneville Road. This location will provide the same breakfast/lunch combo packs every Monday and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Parents can pick up meals for multiple children, and they will be allowed to take enough meals to cover the days between pickup days.

“We want to make sure that families have food,” said Ishpeming Public Schools Superintendent Carrie Meyer. “Food is an essential item for children to be healthy. Providing to them was important to us, so we have expanded our locations. We want to take care of the children in our community and make sure that they have healthy breakfasts and lunches.”

Both the Pearl Street and Christ the King pickup locations will also allow parents to take meals for their children to eat over the weekend.
