Former Marquette resident arrested on a 74-count felony warrant
MARQUETTE COUNTY — At approximately 4:30 pm on October 24th, 49-year-old former Marquette resident, Edward James Charboneau, was arrested at an address located on Eagle St in Forsyth Township.
Charboneau had a 74-count felony warrant which included, 35-Counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity, 2-counts of Child Sexually Abusive Material- Aggravated Possession and 37- counts of Using a Computer to Commit a Crime for his arrest. The warrants were authorized by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office. The felony warrants held a required total bond of $740,000.00.
The warrants stemmed from a lengthy investigation initially reported as Embezzlement from a local organization. During the Embezzlement investigation digital devices were seized and the suspected Child Sexually Abusive Materials were found on the devices.
The Marquette Police Department was assisted by the Forsyth Township Police Department and Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit. Charboneau was arrested without incident and unable to post bond. He was lodged at the Marquette County Jail awaiting arraignment.
