Accidental shooting involving 4-year-old in Iron River
IRON RIVER — At approximately 7 pm on August 29th, the Iron River Police Department and EMS were dispatched to a reported accidental shooting involving a 4-year-old at a residence in Iron River.
When the officer arrived they learned that the child had found an unlocked gun left in the living room area of the house. The weapon was discharged in the home. The child was wounded, but was awake and alert. EMS personnel arrived and transported the juvenile to Aspirus Hospital where he was transferred by helicopter to Milwaukee Children’s Hospital and at the this time the child’s condition is listed as stable.
The investigation is still ongoing.
Iron River police Department was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police and EMS personnel.
