State Authorities Investigate Personal ATV Injury Crash
NORWAY TOWNSHIP — Two persons were involved in a single ATV rollover crash early Saturday evening.
Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post responded to Carney Lake Road, near the Carney Lake Campground, Norway Township, Dickinson County. The crash occurred at approximately 6:55 p.m.
Two males, 26 and 29 years old, were traveling northbound in an ATV. While negotiating a curve, the ATV lost control, ran off the roadway, and struck a tree. The ATV rolled several times after colliding with the tree.
Both occupants were ejected. The driver was air lifted by helicopter from the scene, to Marquette General Hospital by Valley Med Flight.
The passenger was transported to Dickinson Memorial Hospital by North Alert Ambulance, where he was treated for his injuries and later released. Alcohol, speed, and no use of seatbelts are believed to be factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
Troopers at the scene were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, North Alert Ambulance Service, Integrity Care EMS, Norway Township Fire Department, Breitung Township Fire Department, and Valley Med Flight.
