No one injured in house fire in Escanaba
ESCANABA — On Monday, August 12th, at approximately 1:04 a.m., Escanaba Public Safety responded to a report of a bedroom on fire in a residence at 416 1st Avenue South. Upon arrival at the residence, the northeast corner of the duplex was fully involved in fire as well as the vehicle in the driveway.
Officers quickly attacked the fire, but the fire had already spread to the upstairs apartment and into the attic area. Officers were on scene until approximately 10:30 a.m. on Monday extinguishing the fire.
Escanaba Public Safety was assisted on scene by the Ford River Township Fire Department, Rampart EMS, Delta County Sheriff’s Officer, Escanaba Public Works Department, Escanaba City Electric, DTE, and the Red Cross. The Red Cross is assisting the families with temporary housing.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the residence is considered a complete loss.
