Industrial accident happened in Dickinson County, one dead

IRON MOUNTAIN — Troopers from the Michigan State Police, Iron Mountain Post responded to Minerick Logging Inc. report of an industrial accident.

The call came in at approximately 10:50 a.m., Thursday, March 21.

The location of the accident was M-95 in Sagola Township in Dickinson County.

When troopers arrived on scene, it was determined that the accident happened while an employee was doing routine maintenance work on a vehicle.

STAR ambulance was already on the scene providing medical care and paramedics requested an immediate air medivac from the scene.

M-95 was temporarily closed and a landing zone was established for Valley Med Flight to land.

Despite all attempts by medical personnel, the victim did not survive the injuries.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

Assisting at the scene was STAR Ambulance, Beacon Ambulance, Valley Med Flight, Dickinson County Sheriff Department, and Sagola Township Fire Department.
