UPSET arrests Baraga man for meth distribution
BARAGA COUNTY — On Wednesday, January 30th, 2019, detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) executed a search warrant at a residence on M-38 in Baraga County.
The search warrant was the result of an investigation involving the sale of crystal meth. The suspect, a 35-year-old male from Baraga County, was arrested at the residence. Two young children were also in the home at the time and were immediately turned over to relatives.
During a search of the residence detectives seized a small amount of crystal meth, evidence of drug distribution and $2,580 in cash.
The suspect was currently on parole and was lodged at the Baraga County Jail for a parole violation. Additional charges for drug distribution expected pending a review from the Baraga County prosecutor.
Detectives from UPSET were assisted by officers from the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police, Michigan State Police Calumet Post, Baraga County Sheriff’s Department, Lanse Police Department, and the Michigan State Police Calumet Post K-9 Unit.
