Man killed in pedestrian vs. vehicle accident on US-41

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post were dispatched to an automobile accident on US-41 near Brickyard Road at approximately 5:50 a.m. on Friday morning.

 

 

Upon arrival it was determined that the accident involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The Chevrolet pickup truck involved was driven by a 51-year-old male from Ishpeming struck a 36-year-old male from Skandia.

The pedestrian was severely injured and succumbed to the injuries at the scene.

US-41 was closed in both directions until approximately 9:00 a.m. as troopers investigated the incident.

The names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending family notification and further investigation.

Troopers were assisted in their investigation by Marquette Police Department, the Marquette County Sherriff’s Office, Marquette Township Fire, and UP Health System- Marquette.
