One dead after Escanaba house fire

ESCANABA — On Tuesday, July 17th at approximately 10:21 P.M., officers from Escanaba Public Safety were dispatched to 301 N 12th Street for a house fire.

Upon arrival, they observed fire in the upstairs of the home. they were also told that there was a man trapped upstairs where the fire was. An interior attack of the fire was conducted and the fire was suppressed. A search of the upstairs was completed and a male in his late 30’s was found dead.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by Ford River Township Fire, Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Rampart EMS, Delta County Central Dispatch and the Delta County Victim Services.
