Mural unveiled at DNR
GLADSTONE — If you’re traveling west on US–2 in Gladstone, keep your eyes peeled for something stunning.
The Gladstone Branch of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources now sports a beautiful outdoor mural on its eastern wall. It was carefully painted thanks to the Bonifas Arts Center’s “Art Scene” program, which features students from across the Upper Peninsula. Multiple different students lent a hand, covering both the big details and the small.
“All these people came together and put this together,” said local mural artist James Finlan. “I take pride in the things that I’ve done, but I have to remember that I had to rely on a whole bunch of other people to make this happen, and I’m just so pleased to see how it turned out.”
Tylor Welch, one of the painters, added, “It feels good. Every time I drive past this, I’m always going to look at it and say ‘I did that.'”
The whole mural was done in just under two weeks, and depicts a scene of wildlife in the great state of Michigan.
