No damage following wildfire in Chocolay Township

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP — No damage was done after a wildfire in Chocolay Township Monday afternoon.

Chocolay Township Fire was dispatched to 108 Acorn Trail in Chocolay Township for a brush fire that turned into a wildfire.  A quarter-acre sized fire had ignited in the yard of a residence.

The residents managed to contain the fire using water and snow. The fire department then arrived on the scene and was able to put out the fire.

Multiple other fire departments were called for mutual aid, but that call was eventually cancelled after the fire was under control. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
