One suspect arrested for stolen car, home invasion
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — At 3:45 a.m. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post were dispatched to Marquette Township after a motorist reported a vehicle driving on its rims and spraying sparks.
Upon further investigation it was discovered that the vehicle, a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country, was reported stolen from Westwood Drive in Ishpeming Township. The vehicle became disabled at the intersection of Woodridge and Cherry where the driver fled the scene on foot.
NMU Public Safety Officers and Marquette City Police Officers assisted in the search for the driver. Officers spotted the subject on Waldo. He attempted to run from officers but was apprehended.
The driver is a 25 year old male from Ishpeming Township. At the time of his arrest, the subject had just broken into an occupied residence and was fleeing with stolen property.
The subject was arrested and lodged at the Marquette County Jail for Unlawfully Driving Away an Automobile, Home Invasion-1st Degree, Larceny from a Building, and Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer. The subject’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
