Man arrested in Escanaba for child abuse
ESCANABA — One man was arrested Friday in Escanaba on a child abuse charge.
On January 26th, Escanaba Public Safety was notified of an infant who had presented for medical treatment at OSF St. Francis Hospital emergency room with signs of physical child abuse. The 21 year-old mother and 22 year-old father were questioned at Escanaba Public Safety.
After questioning, the 22 year-old father was arrested for child abuse. He is lodged at the Delta County Correctional Facility on a $500,000 cash bond.
The 21 year-old mother was released. The infant was transferred to St. Vincent Children’s Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by OSF St. Francis Hospital, the State of Michigan Department of Human Services, Child Protective Services and the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office.
