NEGAUNEE — Two people were taken to the hospital after an accident involving a mini-van and a semi-tractor and trailer Friday morning.

Officers from the Negaunee Police Department were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash with injuries at 10:33 a.m. The crash occurred in the westbound lanes of U.S. 41 at the entrance of Cattron’s Lumber.

Investigators discovered that as a semi-tractor and trailer, driven by Louis Bonetti of Vulcan, was turning off the highway into the business, another westbound vehicle, a mini-van driven by Tracey Jourden of Palmer, traveling behind the semi, was unable to stop and crashed into the rear end of the trailer.

Both passengers in the mini-van were transported to UPHS – Marquette for suspected injuries. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. Neither driver was injured.

Jourden was found to be at fault in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

The Negaunee Fire Department, Marquette County Sheriff’s Department and UPHS – Marquette Ambulance assisted on the scene.
