Alcohol and speed believed to be factors in fatal accident
PICKFORD — A 52 year-old man is dead after a car accident in Pickford late Friday night.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Pea Line Road near 23 Mile Road at 11:30 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that a vehicle driven by a male, who was identified as Robert Aaron Roy, traveled off of the roadway and struck a parked horse trailer.
Roy was transported by EMS to War Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The accident remains under investigation. Alcohol and speed are believed to have played a role in the accident.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Michigan State Police, Kinross Police Department, United States Border Patrol, Pickford Fire and Kinross EMS.
