Longtime MAPS school board member resigns
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education announced Thursday that longtime member Michael Kohler has given his intent to resign his seat.
A press release sent out by the district said Kohler has work and family commitments that are preventing him from fulfilling the remainder of his term, which expires in December of 2020. MAPS also said they are currently seeking interested and qualified community members who are passionate about public education and will be willing to serve until December 31st, 2018.
Interested applicants should submit a statement of interest, work history and volunteer or community service experience to the Superintendent’s office no later than 4:00 p.m. on December 15th, 2017. Applicants must be residents of the school district. Applications can remain confidential if desired.
The Board will select finalists and conduct public interviews at a meeting yet to be determined. Any questions or applications should be sent to the Superintendent at the Marquette Area Public Schools Central Office, at 1201 W. Fair Ave.
