Give cupping a try; Velodrome to host tasting event

MARQUETTE — Give your taste buds a chance to experience some unique and aromatic flavors of coffee at a tasting event this Saturday.

Velodrome Coffee is offering a free cupping event, in which you’ll be allowed to taste the different varieties of coffee they offer, but it’s not just putting a cup of coffee to your lips.

“Coffee Cupping is kind of the industry standard way of evaluating coffee; it’s kind of like a wine or a beer tasting in a lot of ways, so it’s a good way to compare a bunch of different coffees at once,” said Brice Sturmer, owner of Velodrome.

You’ll get a unique experience, drinking coffee in a manner you may not have even heard of. The taste is special in its own way.

“We really try to roast these each a lot differently to bring out their unique characteristic within the coffee itself, so we don’t really add any flavor or anything to the coffees of course. It’s all about what you’re tasting within the coffee just like wine or beer, more or less,” said Sturmer.

You can give cupping a shot at 9:00 a.m. on October 28th at no cost to you.
