Vehicle strikes boy waiting at a bus stop
ESCANABA — A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital this morning after he was struck by a vehicle waiting for the school bus.
The accident happened just before 7:30 a.m. on 18th Road near K Lane in Escanaba. Police say an 18-year-old man was driving a vehicle eastbound on 18th Road came over a hill and struck another vehicle that was waiting for a Hannahville School bus to load a student.
After striking that vehicle, the man’s vehicle went off the road and struck the 13-year-old waiting for the bus. The boy was airlifted to UP Health System – Marquette.
His condition is unknown at this time. The Delta County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
