Seventh person arrested as part of ongoing drug investigation

GOGEBIC COUNTY — Another arrest has been made as part of a U.P. wide drug investigation.

Jonathan Thomas, 31, was arrested in Mercer, Wisc. by officers on a five-count warrant out of Gogebic County. Thomas faces charges of possession with intent to deliver meth, conspiracy to deliver meth, two counts of possession of analogues and one count of maintaining a drug house.

Thomas is the seventh person arrested as part of this ongoing investigation. He remains in jail on 10% of a $100,000 bond.

Thomas has been arraigned in Gogebic County District Court. His next court date has not yet been set.

On July 22nd, the GIANT team executed a search warrant in the City of Ironwood. They found over a 1/2 pound of crystal meth, prescription medications, marijuana, a firearm and ammunition at Jeffery Schmeige’s residence.

Six people were arrested during that bust.
