Suspect ditches vehicle, flees police after chase
IRON MOUNTAIN — Police have developed a suspect they believe was involved in a vehicle pursuit Sunday night in the City of Iron Mountain.
The high-speed pursuit began on the North Side of Iron Mountain on Main Street near Aragon Street around 9:00 p.m. The vehicle, a blue minivan, tried to evade a traffic stop on Fifth Street through the North Elementary School parking lot.
The pursuit made its way to Lake Antoine Road and continued onto Upper Pine Creek Road. Stop Sticks were deployed by police, deflating two tires on the suspect’s vehicle.
Police found the vehicle in the parking area of the Fumee Lake Natural Area. The suspect fled into a wooded area and was not located.
A suspect has been developed and a report will be forwarded to the Dickinson County Prosecutor’s Office for review. Anyone with information in reference to this incident is asked to contact the Iron Mountain Police Department at (906) 774-1234.
The Norway Police Department, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police assisted the Iron Mountain Police Department during the pursuit.
